It feels like I haven’t posted here in ages..and that’s probably true. Without going to check my post log, I’m guessing it’s been 6-7 months or so. I’m amazed my blog still shows up in the search engines with the current lack of updates.

I haven’t forgotten about Fabnomena.com though. I’ve just been extremly busy with some of my other projects and I don’t think I’ll ever see an end to my to-do list.

So, what projects have I been working on you may ask? Well, if you really want to know…here I go!First and formost I’m going to move to Fabnomena.com to a new domain. I’ll break down the details for you all later, but let me just say there always is a reason for everthing.

As much as I love my blog, some of my projects occupy most of my time, which leaves this blog unused and outdated. My biggest problem is currently the # of hours in a day, which is 24. If we somehow could slow down the rotation of the earth, we could double the # of hours in a day ( If you’ve watched NatGeo you know that wouldn’t be a good thing in the long run.)

I’m currently in the process of selling some of my domains. Why? My goal is to free up some space for bigger “names” that I can develop. I think I’ve gotten caught up in this world of domains a little too much, hence I’ve bought domains I haven’t even had time to look at.

One of my most recent aquisitions was STFUA.com (use whatever word you like for A, I chose Already!). Originally my idea was to make that domain the new home of my blog, but instead I put up a simple twitter feed that mirrors everybody telling someone to shut the fuck up already! Until I come up with a better idea for the domain, I’ll leave it at that.

Some of the other domains I haven’t had a chance to look at are CreativeDesire.com, BrandMod.com, LikeB.com, Psykd.com, OhHuh.com and 10 or so more domains I’ve picked up in the last 5-6 months. Get my point? :) They are/were all great ideas and I like the names, no doubt about that. But I’ve realized I can’t develop them all, for sure not maintain all of them and keep them up to date. So I’m going to keep a few, sell a few and we’ll see where it goes from here. Sometimes I really hate my creative mind because it keeps spinning and spinning, searching for new brandable domains. It’s addicting so be careful :)

I recently purchased a domain that I can’t talk about yet (the domain transfer is still pending), but it’s definitely going to be one of my primary domains in terms of development. I think the name has huge potential and I can’t wait to share it with you all and hopefully some of you will participate on this project as well.

For now I’m off. I promise I will post again before the next iphone is launched. I just have to find a way to sort through my to-do list in a efficient and straight forward manner. Have a great weekend all!

ALL of you know that I’m a big admirer of the wildlife on our planet. I accidently stumbled across an article about the global condition and slaughtering of the tigers presence. The headline over at MSN reads “1,000 tigers killed for body parts in decade“!!!

Some of you may think that’s nothing compared to other species, but you’ve got to look at the WHOLE picture. There are only 3200 tigers left, GLOBALLY! That’s close to a 25% reduction in 10 years.

Needless to say the article made me furious and I’m shocked how far the wildlife crisis has crossed the red line.

Body parts from more than 1,000 wild tigers have been seized over the past decade, crimes that are adding to the extinction crisis faced by the species whose numbers are estimated at around just 3,200 worldwide, a wildlife monitoring network reported Tuesday.

“Parts of between 1,069 and 1,220 tigers were seized in 11 of the 13 tiger range countries — or an average of 104 to 119 animals per year,” TRAFFIC said in a report ahead of an international meeting later this month to protect the species.

India was highest on the list, followed by China and Nepal.

“Given half the world’s tigers live in India, it’s no real surprise the country has the highest number of seizures,” report author Pauline Verheij said in a statement.

“With parts of potentially more than 100 wild Tigers actually seized each year,” she added, “one can only speculate what the true numbers of animals are being plundered.

Tiger items that are smuggle range from complete skins, skeletons and even whole animals — live and dead — to bones, meat, claws, teeth, skulls, penises and other body parts, TRAFFIC said.

The parts are used by various cultures for decoration, in traditional medicines and even as good luck charms.

“Clearly enforcement efforts to date are either ineffective or an insufficient deterrent,” stated Mike Baltzer, leader of WWF’s Tigers Alive initiative.

“Not only must the risk of getting caught increase significantly, but seizures and arrests must also be followed up by swift prosecution and adequate sentencing,” he said.

Besides poaching, the other main pressure on tigers is habitat loss.

Some 100,000 tigers are thought to have been around a century ago, TRAFFIC said.

TRAFFIC is a joint program of WWF and the IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature.”

Not long ago, National Geographic aired a documentary with inside information on the illegal tiger trade in Asia. I was utterly shocked by their disturbing findings. This has lead me to take action. Back in August we aquired Wildlife.TV and I’ve since then been in touch with several media corporations and wildlife organizations. I want to spread awareness, share information and make people realize what is beeing done to our global wildlife, every minute, every second that goes by.

Used for decoration? Who feels good about themselves using the remainders of dead tigers as decoration? Some people really need to get a proper reality check!

I have decided to make Wildife.TV our top priority as of now and I will keep you all updated on the project. Hopefully we can all contribute and make a difference. Meanwhile, please support TRAFFIC, make a donation or link to their website to create awareness. It’s time we wake up from our dillusional dreams and face reality once and for all. If the tigers are gone, the meaning of the word wildlife will never be the same again!

The weeks fly by faster than ever and it seems like this catch-up game with my to-do list is everlasting. I must say it has been a very good week though. We’ve got a lot of work done, we’ve acquired another great domain that will help us broaden the Prime.TV horizon. and we’ll eventually add it to our list of development projects.

Enough rambling for now – here is what’s on the blog-post agenda for today.
- Talk about the Prime.TV progress
- New faces in front & behind the cameras
- Some interesting domain news
- Other news of interest

The Prime.TV Network progress
I am very happy with the development progress of the domains / channels we’re currently working on. In terms of back-end development we’ve talked to several people about video & CMS solutions that meet our demands and expectations s in terms of stability and reliability. We encourage high-end companies and media pro’s to get in touch with us if you can deliver solutions that lift our visitors .TV experiences to new heights.

As some of you already may have noticed on the Prime.TV blog, we followed up last weeks RealLife.TV acquisition with HighQuality.TV! This domain has such a broad potential in terms of high-quality video demand or online video entertainment that we couldn’t pass on this one. As if that isn’t enough, we have one or two more domains coming later this year, so I’m very excited about the future of the Prime.TV Network.

New ideas & New cast members
It is always important for me to point out that it is never too late for our visitors, viewers and .TV addicts to show us what they’ve got. We’re always on the look-out for talented people that can add more inspiration and passion to our network. You can get in touch with me directly through twitter (@Fabnomena) or go straight to the Prime.TV contact form. You can also get in touch with us on Facebook! Send us a URL with some of your work in-front or behind the cameras and we’ll get in touch with you.

Domains of the week
If you’ve been online a lot this week you can not have missed the big news of the Sex.com sale. According to court documents filed on October 19th, the domain name Sex.com has a pending sale, subject to court approval for $13 Million Dollars. The proposed buyer is Clover Holding Limited and the parties are asking for a court hearing to be held no later than October 27th, 2010. The domain has a long and complicated history and the most recent change of ownership in 2006 cost between $10 Million and $14 Million.

That’s it for today. I still have a few hours of work ahead of me so I’ve got to end it here. All comments and feedback are welcome, as always. Have a great weekend all!

I’m sorry things haven’t really been up to date over here, but things have almost been out of control these last couple of months. At this point I wish the day had 50 hours, not 24. I barely have time to update my twitter profile, but I’ll try to keep you up to date atleast once a week. Recently I’ve been much involved with the work over at Prime.TV which without a doubt is one of the biggest projects I’ve ever been involved in. It’s such an exciting time and I can’t wait for some of the channels to go live. You can follow us and our updates over at @PrimeTelevision or through the official Prime.TV blog.

I’m also involved with some other design work for a famous norwegian fashion designer, but I can’t say too much about that just yet.

I’ll be back with more soon. Take care for now and while you’re waiting, check out the little post I wrote on the HTC Desire Z.

I don’t know if this is a good picture of life on the fab side, but it definitely stunned me when I read the article. Swarms of giant asian hornets renowned for their vicious stings and skill at massacring honeybees have settled in France. I have to admit that I first heard about the asian hornet, also known as vespa velutina, many years ago but I didn’t think much of it back then.

Today I found this article in the news about this hornet spreading hysteria in France. The first question I asked myself was how on earth the hornet made its way to France in the first place. I didn’t have to read far to find the answer. Vespa velutina is thought to have arrived in France from the Far East in a consignment of Chinese pottery in late 2004. Once again we can only blame ourselves and face the consequences. They first settled in the forests of Aquitaine, but quickly fanned out to surrounding areas, thriving on rising temperatures linked to global warming and the lack of indigenous predators. The giant hornet is a lot bigger than the regular bees we’re used to in Europe or the US. The asian hornet can grow up to 3cm in length and it can take out entire bee colonies in a matter of hours.

Denis Thiery, an Asian hornet specialist at the French National Institute for Agricultural Research, said there was nothing to halt their spread. “From one nest discovered in 2004, there were 2,000 in the Bordeaux area in 2007. Today there are probably several thousand in surrounding departments,” he said.

“According to our studies, they are able to settle in 50 per cent of the country. The European hornet is no match for them, with only a few hundred individuals per nest compared to several thousand for the yellow-footed hornets. They do sometimes fight, but it’s a losing battle,” he told the newspaper Le Parisien.

National Geographic called it the hornet from hell in one of their programs.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Local authorities in the tourist region of Lot-et-Garonne have issued a statement urging people with bee allergies to be “extremely cautious”. “Never attempt to destroy an Asian hornet nest yourself but call on specialist organisations, as this species charges in a group as soon as it feels its nest is threatened.”

Besides the risk to humans, the hornets have decimated France’s already dwindling bee population. Squadrons of the insects hover over hives and pick off hapless honeybees in mid-air. A handful can destroy a nest of 30,000 bees in just a couple of hours.

In Asia, honeybees form a ball of workers around the intruder and kill it by heatstroke. But in France, the technique appears to have no effect. Beekeepers suspect that the creatures are also massacring other indigenous insect species. “Nobody can say what damage the Asian hornet has done outside of our hives. What is certain is that last autumn there were less insects than before,” said Richard Legrand, a keeper in Bergerac.

Looks like Europe may be facing a serious problem in the years to come. The temps are rising and the hornets are thriving. Lets hope this problem can be dealt with before it all gets completely out of hand.

Wildlife Trust of Bangladesh (WTB) Chief Executive Mohammed Anwarul Islam said that the find was “exciting and hugely significant”. Many conservationists believed that clouded leopards were extinct in Bangladesh.

The WTB is now trying to secure the cub’s release.

Professor Islam said that the cub was found by indigenous villagers near the town of Rangamati in the south-eastern Chittagong Hill Tracts in June.

“Obviously our long term aim is for it to be released into the jungle, but we have to be careful not to push our case too strongly,” he said. “The villagers are understandably concerned that if they stop feeding it, it may die in the jungle without its mother.”

Professor Islam said that the last time a clouded leopard had been spotted in Bangladesh was in 1992. He said that the cat was considered extinct in the country because of habitat loss. Local people reportedly saw the cub’s mother and one of its siblings as they were feeding on a monkey.

They chased the leopard family away, but captured one of the cubs. Clouded leopards used to live in forests around Mymensingh, Sylhet, and the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

They are solitary, nocturnal and arboreal cats. They are also one of the least studied leopards, principally because of their secretive and timid nature. The species is considered to be vulnerable across Asia and is included in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.

Remember the following: August the 7th, 2009, 12hr 34 minutes and 56 seconds on the 7th of August this year, (which is 2009). What is so special about this date and time you might ask? Well put all the numbers in a row and you will see what it adds up to. The time and date will be 12:34:56 07/08/09 or 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9.

You won’t see that happen too often in your lifetime now will ya? :)
