Windows-Mobile-6.5Microsoft’s new Windows Mobile cell phone OS is set to be available in new smartphones starting October 6, 2009, a little over a month away. The new OS is supposed to have an easier UI, superior browsing capabilities, Windows Marketplace for Mobile, and a way to back up all phone information called My Phone.

I’m not sure how Windows Mobile 6.5 or Windows Mobile 7 (for future reference) will do against the much hyped and very popular Android OS made by google. I think this is Microsofts last chance to impress their “fans” because the Android OS is a REALLY great and well organized operating system.

Like I said earlier I’ve been playing around with the HTC Hero for quite some time now, and I am still REALLY impressed over it’s usability curve compared to Windows Mobile 6.1. The HTC Magic was great, but the HTC Hero and the new, improved Android ROM is even better. But lets not get off track, lets get back to Windows Mobile 6.5.

Asian Hornet I don’t know if this is a good picture of life on the fab side, but it definitely stunned me when I read the article. Swarms of giant asian hornets renowned for their vicious stings and skill at massacring honeybees have settled in France. I have to admit that I first heard about the asian hornet, also known as vespa velutina, many years ago but I didn’t think much of it back then.

Today I found this article in the news about this hornet spreading hysteria in France. The first question I asked myself was how on earth the hornet made its way to France in the first place. I didn’t have to read far to find the answer. Vespa velutina is thought to have arrived in France from the Far East in a consignment of Chinese pottery in late 2004. Once again we can only blame ourselves and face the consequences.

popcornApparently, it’s not as bad as you may think.. I found an article today over at abc where they write about a new study that claims that popcorn isn’t all that bad for you if you eat it right. Apparently popcorn can be very good for you if you drop all the salt and butter because it’s a good source of fiber and antioxidants.

In addition to the finding that cold, oat-based cereals provide the best source of morning milk-bowl-spoon-based antioxidants, the researchers found that popcorn provides more of the dietary fiber and antioxidants than any other snack food, according to findings presented at the meeting of the American Chemical Society.

“It’s a whole grain, people don’t think of it that way but it is,” said Keith-Thomas Ayoob, an associate professor of pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in response to the study’s findings. “It’s a different form of corn, but it’s definitely a whole grain.”

I don’t know about you all, but I hardly ever eat popcorn. If I ever happen to find a bowl with popcorn in front of me, I prefer to eat it without all the butter and salt anyways.

Content Management SystemI am really excited about this new project that we’re working on. I don’t want to say too much, but I know you will love it once it goes “live”. Before the design process gets started, I need to figure out the website architecture and what solution to use. That’s where you all come in ;)

We’re looking for advice and suggestions in terms of the sites architecture and the backend setup. Basically what we’re looking at is a multi site network with many domains linked together. Each domain will have it’s own theme/layout but all articles and content should be able easy accessible from other sites/domains.

We need a solid (open source or commerical) CMS that runs all sites from the same backend configuration and all the content should be stored in the same database. We need to figure out what CMS we should use, what database setup and what kind of hosting we need.

If anyone has any valuable information or great ideas, please let me know. We’re currently looking at commercial and open source solutions so all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks guys, have a fantastic week!
