Over at GoNeuner.com we reported that the two-time biathlon Olympic champion Magdalena Neuner has decided to retire at the end of the 2011/2012 season.
The 24-year-old German says on her website “the time is right for a change” and that she wants to “try new things”. She believes big things are to come, and she eventually wants to settle down and start a family.
“The first World Cup weekend is behind me and now we look forward to Hochfilzen,” she said on her website. “Before the upcoming competitions though I have an important anouncementto make – I will finish my career as a biathlete when this season is over. This may be a shock and surprise to many of you and it was in no way an easy decision.
